Facilities
The facilities for both horse and rider at the Country Riding Centre really are second to none. The stables, built from hardwood with concrete bases, measure 3m60 by 3m60, are in two U-shapes facing each other, centred around a peaceful yard area, with olive trees growing and seating areas where you can relax in the sunshine and soak up the atmosphere.
The U-shapes are joined together at either end by covered archways, creating an enclosed space adding to the ‘homely’ ambience. There are 14 stables in all, as well as a tack room, straw shed, feed house, office, covered wash area and WC facilities.
The Country Riding Centre has some 22 horses, some of which belong to private livery clients. The breeds range from a Dartmoor pony to a Lusitano stallion. The Country Riding Centre is set in some 16,000 sqm of land, which is divided into paddock areas with field shelters, a large riding arena measuring 40m by 70m, a smaller riding arena measuring 20m by 40m, and a round pen for lunging 16m in diameter.
The smaller sand arena has a large covered terrace overlooking it, with seating, where you can relax with a coffee, glass of wine or a beer and observe what is going on in the arena. There are horses to suit all riding abilities. All of the horses, whether they belong to us, or private clients, are extremely well cared for and all form part of our extended family. Life in the stables centres around the horses.
The riding centre provides a first class livery service to private clients. The horses each have their own stable and are fed twice daily, with turnout in designated paddocks where hay is also fed. Horse owners are able to use all of the facilities of the centre within the price of the livery charge.
Due to its location, the Country Riding Centre provides a perfect place for hours of endless hacking off road rather than being confined to arena exercise. The team at Country Riding Centre are also always on hand to tend to you and your horse, arranging for and supervising veterinary attendance, the farrier and anything else one may require. In 2008, the Country Riding Centre introduced an adoption scheme whereby for a monthly fee, you can own your own horse for a fraction of the normal cost. Please contact us for further information and details of horses available.
